Gemma and Ryan had a fabulous October wedding. Here is their story:

How many venues did you view before you booked Cantley House Hotel?

We spent a good year looking around venues and think we looked at about 20!

Why did you choose Cantley House Hotel as your wedding venue?

Absolutely fitted perfectly with our theme! It was very homely, warm and inviting and we loved all the different areas to move about in the venue, from the Oak Room to the Briar. It also ticked all of our boxes of wanting a venue with rooms for guests, beautiful surroundings for photos and a very oldy worldy feel to it.

What advice would you give other couples getting married at Cantley House?

The staff are so knowledgeable and know what works and which suppliers they regularly use. We were recommended a pizza oven for our evening food and it was fantastic! So definitely take advice from them! Nadia was our wedding coordinator and she made it run so smoothly, keeping in contact with us at all times, this made us relaxed and at ease.

Who was your favourite wedding supplier and why?

This is such a hard one as all of our suppliers were amazing! I would probably say Vivean from HAPPY who did our cake. She was absolutely amazing from the day we contacted her to the end, in fact we still keep in contact now. Not only is she super friendly, her cakes are amazing! We went with her after recommendations on a Facebook group and she didn’t disappoint! We were able to pick the flavours on each tier and she brought our Harry Potter creation to life! We wanted our cake to be a talking point and it certainly was!

Was there a theme to your wedding and what were your decorations?

Yes! We are huge Harry Potter fans so our theme was classy Harry Potter. We had small nods to it in the ceremony with a themed reading and we decorated the room with candles on top of the books. The main decor was in the Briar for our wedding breakfast! Our tables were named from places in the books such as, Dumbledore's Office, The Great Hall and Platform 9 ¾, each table name and place names were in the Harry Potter writing. Our favours were Ferrero Rochers designed to look like golden snitches. Each table had Manzanita trees on with trailing gems and hanging candles to look like the great hall and we then dotted figurines on each table in accordance to the table name. We had a magic mirror that was also Harry Potter themed. Our table plan was a little different – we had 2 lit up trees with hanging keys on that our guests had to go through to find the one with their name and table on; a nod to the first book where Harry has to go through the obstacles to get to the Philosopher’s stone.

What was the favourite part of your day and why?

Apart from obviously saying our vows and becoming a married couple, I would have to say when we had the owls arrive! It was so different and our guests loved it! We had a gorgeous snowy owl, who we had a lot of photos with.

Ryan’s favourite part of the day was probably after the speeches as he was worrying so much about it! He could finally relax once that had been done!

Did you have a DJ or band and why?

We had a DJ, as they could play a selection of different music and we wanted it to be more a party in the evening.

Would you change any part of your day?

As cliche as this will probably sound, I wouldn’t change any part of the day. It ran by so smoothly and it was wonderful to be around family and friends that we loved.
