Outside wedding venue BerkshireWedding venue near Reading

Sophie and Anthony had a beautiful midsummer's wedding. Here's their story below:

How many venues did you view before you booked Cantley House Hotel?

We viewed one other venue before Cantley House Hotel and knew straight away that it wasn’t what we were looking for. We wanted somewhere with character and that people thought ‘wow’ as soon as they walked in. When we viewed Cantley House Hotel for the first time we knew it was everything we had ever dreamt of and knew it was the venue for our perfect wedding.

Why did you choose Cantley House Hotel as your wedding venue?

We chose Cantley House mainly because of the stunning Briar barn. We knew we wanted a rustic wedding and the Briar suited our vision perfectly. We had chosen June as our wedding month and when we saw the gardens at Cantley for the first time we knew there would be lots of places for photography and lots of space for our guests to mingle on the lawn in the summer sunshine!

Was there a theme to your wedding and what were your decorations?

Our theme was a rustic summer wedding with the colour theme of light grey and mint. We made a lot of the decorations ourselves as we had a budget that we wanted to stick to. My grandma made hanker chiefs for happy tears which were given out at the ceremony and she also made bunting for the Briar. We also painted wooden crates, wrapped fake ivy and fairy lights around the wooden pillars and used logs and lanterns as our centre pieces.

Who was your favourite wedding supplier and why?

It’s so difficult to pick one, however our favourite supplier was DM Photography, he did a brilliant job of capturing the day and we love looking through our photos as it takes us back to the best day of our lives. We would definitely recommend Dan for any brides and grooms looking for a photographer.

Would you change any part of your day?

If we could change any part of the day it would be to be less nervous before the wedding! I was a nervous wreck and I shouldn’t have been as it was the most amazing and perfect day.

What advice would you give other couples getting married at Cantley House?

Our main piece of advice would be for the bride to book a big room the night before and get ready at Cantley house hotel on the big day as it took the stress away of getting to the venue in the morning. (also breakfast is included which is a plus!). We would also recommend having your best man or maid of honour taking you away at certain points in the day just for the bride and groom to talk as the day goes so quickly and it’s nice to be able to stop and just take everything in as it can be quite overwhelming!
